TABELLOSE® Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) is a pharmaceutical-grade semi-synthetic cellulose ether polymer widely used as a multifunctional excipient in pharmaceutical formulations. It is produced by chemically modifying cellulose through the substitution of hydroxyl groups with methoxy and hydroxypropoxy groups, providing unique functional properties such as film formation, viscosity control, binding ability, and controlled drug release.

Overview

TABELLOSE® Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) is a non-ionic, water-soluble polymer with excellent stability across a broad pH range (approximately pH 3–11). Unlike enteric polymers, HPMC does not dissolve based on pH changes; instead, its functionality depends on hydration, viscosity, polymer concentration, and gel formation behavior. It is a versatile pharmaceutical polymer designed to support the development of immediate-release, film-coated, sustained-release, and extended-release formulations
