TABSTAR® PREGELATINIZED STARCH

TABSTAR®Pregelatinized Starch is a pharmaceutical-grade, modified starch produced by physical modification of native starch through gelatinization and drying processes without chemical modification. This process partially or completely disrupts the starch granules, improving its functionality in pharmaceutical formulations. It is a multifunctional excipient widely used as a binder, diluent, disintegrant, and flow-enhancing agent in oral solid dosage forms.

Overview

Chemically, starch is a natural polysaccharide composed mainly of amylose and amylopectin, consisting of glucose units linked through α-(1→4) and α-(1→6) glycosidic bonds. The pregelatinization process modifies the physical structure of these polymer chains without altering the chemical composition, enhancing its functionality in pharmaceutical formulations. Pregelatinized Starch is widely used as a binder, diluent, disintegrant, and flow aid in oral solid dosage forms.
